We've been having some WONDERFUL weather for the past week.  Javen and I spent one afternoon over at the Tellers and the kids played outside at the water table. They had a blast...but don't take my word for it:

I guess after that last post the ole Mac felt guilty (or threatened) for not functioning properly because the photos actually downloaded today. (Whew!)

Anyway...here are a few shots from April 14. It was a somewhat chilly day so we played inside. I think Javen is trying to tell me something as he tries to dig a hole in the kitchen floor with his bucket and shovel. This baby is ready for the beach!

I'm a Blogger and I'm a PC

I know it's been almost a week since I've posted. We're having technical difficulties downloading the photos from the camera to the computer. Have I mentioned how much I love my Mac? (Note the sarcasm here.) I may be the only Mac owner in the world who prefers a PC. Seriously folks, I'm ready to throw this thing out the window then run it over with my car. THAT would be some good blogging material, friends.

Da Boys

Last weekend my brother Jeff and sister Kendra came down for a visit. Javen got some great Uncle Jeff and Daddy time in on Saturday when I went shopping with Heather, Kendra and Jessie. (I KNOW! Shopping without a baby....it changed my life!) I digress... Here are a few photos of what the boys were up to on Saturday morning.

He's making the sign for "all done". Looks like he wanted out of the stroller so he could run around (ie chase the dog, bird, car, airplane [insert moving object here] down the street).

First of all, thanks to all of you for sharing your recipes!  We love mexican food...so Jake was really excited when he read through all the new ideas. I can't wait to try them all out!

Secondly, "I" have new pictures to post however, they are on Heather's camera. So technically she has new Javen photos to post. I'll see her today so I'll see if I can snag them from her and put them up here before she gets them up on her blog. Maybe we'll both post. Who knows. Jake took my jump drive so it makes it a little harder to steal...ahem...I mean get photos from Heather's camera. :)

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter celebrating the resurrection of our Savior! It was cool to think that last Easter Javen was just two days old; it was the day we came home from the hospital with him. He was born on Good Friday. I think it was a GREAT Friday.

And on a different note, Javen just spit yogurt in my face. Time to stop blogging and focus on one task at a time. Breakfast time! I'll (hopefully) be back later this afternoon with some photos for you.

Dinner Rut

Jake and I are stuck in a dinner rut. We eat the same 5-7 meals week after week and are more than ready to shake things up a bit. So, my loyal (and new) readers, we are turning to you for help! What are some (or one) of your favorite dinner ideas? We're up for anything from meat and potatoes to omelet night! And just in case any of you find yourself in the same predicament, I'll give you the recipe for one of our favorite quick and healthy meals. I think we eat this at least two times a week!

Our Favorite Salad:

Romaine Lettuce

Baby Spinach

Grilled or Frozen breaded chicken (prepared according package instructions)

Avocado (cut into chunks)

Carrots

Feta Cheese

Craisens 

Apple (slices or chunks)

Almonds

Pepper

Olive Oil (as dressing)

You can easily substitute any of the ingredients for your favorite salad toppings. Let me know if you put a twist on it...we'll be ready to try it!

If You Were A Fly On Our Wall Today...

...you would have overheard the following conversation between Javen and me:

Javen: Mama? Bye bye. (He waves as he says this)

Me: You want to go bye bye?

Javen: Yeah (Shakes his head yes)

Me: Where do you want to go?

Javen: Hedder (Aunt Heather)

Sweet boy! He wanted to go see his Aunt Heather! I guess he gets cabin fever too. :) His vocabulary seems to double by the second and I love how much he is communicating with me both verbally and non-verbally. Call me biased...but I think he's so smart!

Also, I'm not sure how I failed to mention this like a week ago...but Javen is now walking! He's been taking a few steps at a time for a while, but now it's full blown walking. We call him Javenstein because he looks like Frankenstein with his wide steps and arms stretched out.

Last week he also said "Mama, I wuv you" for the first time. Just melt my heart, why don't ya?

He Makes Me Smile All the Time

Well, I've been trying to upload photos from Javen's birthday party just about every day since Saturday, but for some reason they just will not upload. I'm not sure if I have to mess with the format or something since they came from Jeff's fancy camera...but usually I don't have a problem with these type of files, so I just don't know.

I apologize for the lack of photos recently. I've been trying. Here are a few funny Javen stories for you though:

On Monday Javen had his 12 month well visit to the doctor's office. The doctor ran through a list of questions for us about Javen's development. One question was "Is Javen starting to try to say a few words yet?" We laughed as we answered and explained that Javen has a fairly large vocabulary and that he talks non stop. We could tell by the look on the doctor's face that he didn't quite believe us. I'm sure he just thought we were bragging and talking it up a little. Next the doctor took his stethoscope to listen to Javen's heart and as soon as he placed it on Javen's chest, Javen looked up at him and said, "COLD!" The doctor stepped back and looked at me with big eyes. "Did he just say the word 'cold'?!" I told him yes and then he turned to Jake and said, "Really?!?" Jake told him yes as well and I think now that doctor believes us.

(Sidenote: Javen is now 23lbs and 30 inches tall!)

Lately Javen has been waking up in the morning around 7am, but I let him play until he's ready to get out, which is usually around 7:30am. Yesterday I heard him wake up at the usual time (he starts talking the moment his eyes open) and around 7:30 I hear over the monitor "Auhh done! Auhhh done Mama!" I was cracking up. That little smarty pants.

In other news, Javen is walking about 75% of the time. I know he's getting tired when he starts crawling around. I think he looks like a baby Frankenstein with his wide waddle steps and his arms stretched out for balance. I'll attempt to get a video to post up here for your viewing pleasure.
