You Have (One) New Message

Javen has always loved to read. A few months ago we started reading his toddler Bible with him every night before bed. It's hands down his favorite book. He's at the point now where instead of us reading to him, he flips through the Bible and tells us the stories. (I'm a proud Mama.) I love the way he pronouces the names "Joe-fef" (Joseph) and "Go-wy-ef" (Goliath).

I love that he thinks that the lions in the Daniel in the Lion's Den story have big hair. He points that out every night.

I love how he makes me sing the Zaccheaus song every time we turn to that story. I love that he thinks that Jesus told Zaccheus to come down from the tree so he could go to his house to play trains.

"Mama? I wanna go to Za-kees house and pway twains wif dem. I wanna pway twains wif Jesus."

Another one of his favorites is Jonah and the whale. Tonight he pointed to the picture of Jonah on his knees, praying while in the belly of the whale."

"Mama, this is Jonah. He's on his phone getting his message from God."
"He's doing what, buddy?"
"He's getting his message from God. On his phone."

I love that he loves the Bible. Yes, perhaps we have a little clarifying to do about why Jesus wanted to hang out with Zaccheus, and that Jonah didn't get messages from God on his cell phone; but at the end of the day he's developing a love for the Word of God!

  4. Diane, I am enjoying your blog and your journey through motherhood...Javen and Liam are so blessed to have you to love and nurture them. Sam is twelve for one more week....I don't even want to do the math that involves counting on one hand the number of years before he begins college. I'm scrapbooking his pictures from 2000 and it seems like I just snapped these pictures yesterday; you are in a number of them...do you remember wearing one of Sam's fireman hats? I don't think I have to tell you to enjoy these years with your little ones...it's obvious you are. Love from Maryland, Wanda
