Whenever we meet new people and they learn the names of my children, often their response falls into one of two categories:
1. Oh, you guys aren't Irish at all are you? ;)
2. Oh, what interesting names. (i.e. What were you smoking when you guys named these babies? Crazy parents!)
Call us crazy, but we love our kids names. (Duh, why would we name them something we don't like?) It's ok if you don't like their names. I'm not offended. To each his/her own. And believe it or not, their names are not Irish, though we have nothing against Irish names!
Javen Andrew
Javen (Hebrew) means "righteous". Javen (spelled JavAn in the Bible) was one of Noah's grandsons. Pronounced "Jay-ven". Andrew (English) means "manly warrior". It's also Jake's middle name.
Liam Robert
Liam (Irish/English) means "protector"
Robert (English) means "bright fame". Robert is also the first name of all the men on my side of the family. They all go by their middle names to avoid confusion.
Baby McD #3
We're working on coming up with names for this little one. (Or maybe I should say I am working on coming up with names and Jake gives the thumbs up or down.) This time around is a bit more challenging as we have to come up with a boy and a girl name. (No, I'm NOT having twins!) We decided to not find out the baby's gender at the big ultrasound...it's going to be a surprise until the end. (Which should be around October 4.)
We have a good contender picked out for a boy name, but girls names are not coming as easily. So, what are some of your favorite girl names? Just looking for some inspiration or a jumping point to place us in the right direction.

So excited that you guys are waiting until the baby is born to find out! I have always wanted to try that but dont have the guts :)
ReplyDeleteI am a baby name conessieur (sp?) because I am CONSTANTLY coming up with new names to tell Josh. Like, even before we were married!...
Anywho, I love the website www.nameberry.com because it has a filter you can use called the "sounds like" filter. So for example, if you liked the name Ellie but didnt want to use that exact name, it would provide a huge list of names that are similar sounding.
Good luck choosing a name!
p.s. I have dibbs on Bryce, Landry, and Mabry...just sayin! :)
Congratulations, Diane!! That is great news!! Yeah, girl names are a bit tough to come up with. As you can tell from "Marie" I love old fashioned names. I checked out old fashioned name websites but ultimately went with Marie which is a family name (a family name in every family, right? :) I'll let you know if I think of some good ones!
ReplyDeletemy most favorite girl name is Julie. all of the Julies I know are beautiful, sweet, smart, caring, good cooks, have amazing best friends, and all around perfect. definitely my number one choice! :)

ReplyDeleteI love your boys and their names! I love the idea of a boys middle name being Jacob or the girls being Marie. As for first names...What about Phoebe or Phoebo?
ReplyDeleteI think Javen and Liam are just darling!! My cousin named is only son Liam and I really do like that one!! As for girls, my BFF named her only daughter Madison, which I thought was just adorable!! She was also born on Valentine's Day so I thought she was going to name her Valentina, which is also adorable...I also like Isabella....my son is named Floyd (actually Floyd III, to be exact) and my husband had no say what so ever...I knew about seven years ago that if we had children the boy would be Floyd III and the girl would be Toni Marie (Toni is his mom's name and Marie a family name on my side)....Good luck on picking out a name and more good luck on having a great pregnancy, labor and delivery!!
ReplyDeleteI love your boys' names! I have a Carson, and if he would have been a "she" we were going to name her "Gabriella"- "Gabby" for short.
ReplyDeleteThese days I really like:
Preslee (#1 pick; determined to use it for our future daughter IF I can convince my husband!!!)
I also like Lydia, Aubrey, Libby (Husband gave the OK on this one) and Paisley. :-)
Congratulations!
