It's been a rough week in pregnancy land.
I'm 6 months pregnant, it's the middle of June and it is already miserably HOT and HUMID. I'm no stranger to this type of weather, but I don't think anything could have prepared me for the uncomfortableness factor being upped quite so high when you're with child.
I was outside for maybe 15 minutes yesterday and my knees, ankles, feet/toes were swollen for the remainder of the day. August, I dread you.
I've had braxton hicks since week 20, (which isn't a bad thing) but lately they've been painful, which isn't so much fun.
I'm really feeling my physical limitations this time around. It's frustrating because I've never felt like I physically couldn't accomplish some sort of every day task due to pregnancy. Last night I had two dishes in the sink to wash before I headed up to shower and sleep, and I literally did not have it in me to finish cleaning the kitchen. It made me feel like such a lazy bum, and I probably would have dwelled on that a bit longer if I hadn't fallen dead asleep by 8:45. :)
This past week must have been "village idiot vacation week" and they all came to Nashville to tell me how fat I look. I think maybe seven different people (some strangers, some just acquaintances) approach me and ask if I was pregnant, because they didn't want to assume that I was pregnant if in fact I had just gained some weight/carried heavy in my stomach. And I quote: "Because some women just tend to be heavier around the middle...ummm...uhhh."
Really? The only women I've seen look like they're carrying a ball in their stomach and look normal sized everywhere else have been pregnant 100% of the time. No question.
Why would you ask such a question?! EVER?
(Please excuse the sudden outburst...it must be the hormones talking.)
In other news, I think the heat is getting to all of us. Poor sleepy Liam could barely get through lunch today without nodding off...
Also, if anyone has some great indoor activities we can do this summer...let me know your ideas! Today we had an indoor picnic snack on the living room floor while watching a movie. I'm trying to figure out ways to bring summer inside since apparently I can't handle the heat too well. :)
Oh! Crazy pregnant lady alert: I've decided we (read: Jake) need to re-paint our master bed room. We painted it a couple years ago and it's just never really sat well with me. I've tried and tried to decorate and have failed miserably. Enter: grey paint. Anyone have a favorite shade/brand/color? The hunt is ON!

The boys loved it when I would build a fort for them, they loved that they felt like they were camping out... yeah, it's a mess to clean up, but they would play in it for hours! God Luck!
ReplyDeleteWell, it is not much cooler lugging an infant around! Soon you'll have a sweet baby and it will all be worth it, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteThird pregnancies are harder, aren't they? People don't realize. I get it though...and feel your pain for sure.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think you're entitled to bash anyone who mentions your size. Maybe carry a hammer around. :)
You should follow my sister's blog. She will be posting "Fun Things to do with kids" on Tuesdays. She is very creative and probably will share lots of great ideas. :)
