Be Cool, Stay InSIDE

I had started feeling guilty about all the time we've been spending indoors this summer. It's 100+ degrees outside with a heat index, so I pretty much start to swell at the thought of stepping outside.

Yesterday at my OB appointment, my doctor told me to please stay inside, it's just too dangerous to be in this heat. That being said, today's activity was completely justified in my mind: we spent the morning with our neighbors at an indoor pirate themed playground. While we can't do this sort of thing all the time, (it's not free!) it did prove to be a fun 1/2 day trip that wore my kids out in time for a great nap!

Mission: Accomplished.

By The Numbers

27: How old I am today. (!!)

30: How many weeks pregnant I am. Speaking of...I actually took a belly pic or two today...just for all of you who've been asking. Resorted to the bathroom mirror for help, so yes, that is a toilet scrub brush in the background. Just keepin' it real.

10: How many weeks left of this pregnancy I have left...give or take. Most likely give seeing as both boys came (induced) late. However, given the amount of contractions I've already been dealing with, maybe there's a chance I won't go so late this time? 3rd time's the charm, right?

My day so far:

Woke up to the news that my cousins baby was born in the wee hours of the morning! Couldn't be more excited to share this day with the little guy!

Opened up some wonderful birthday cards from family this morning. (Thank you!!!)

Fun morning of reading books, playing trucks and doing puzzles with my boys.

Liam is currently protesting nap time. Not sure what this is all about, since he's typically such a good little sleeper. I reallllly hope he falls asleep soon because it's making me grumpy too.

Excited to get some ice cream with our friends down the street after nap time! They're so sweet for taking me out since Jake has to work late. I love our neighborhood!

Yeah, he has to work tonight. And the past two nights. And the next few nights. It's just one of those weeks.

BUT this year for my birthday he's appeasing my crazy re-decorating bug and helping me redo our bedroom. Paint, patching some nail holes, new duvet...a few little projects to actually make the room look complete before we bring out the baby gear from the attic. :)

I'm excited.

Oh, and we're also trying to save up for a trip to Disney World sometime in early 2012...so if you've got any insider money saving Disney tips, let me know! (It's going to be the boys 3 kids Christmas gift. Not that the baby will remember any of it, but he or she will be there posing for a photo with Mickey!)

And phew...Liam's asleep...I think I'll join him!

Feelin' Hot Hot Hot

Still here...doing our best to survive this intense heat.

We had a neighborhood water play date this week and it was so much fun! It also insured some great afternoon naps.

Guess, what? I didn't take ONE photo.

I sat in the shade and watched my boys splash around and my feet swell. Pregnancy in the summer is no joke.

But guess what? One of my neighbors is a photographer and she did bring her camera. Check out my cuties and their friends keeping cool...

We are having such a fun summer with a great group of kids and their Mom's! Play dates, Mom's night out, Dad's night out...we are so blessed to have a neighborhood full of such great families!

Summer, Thus Far

So, lets see if I can sum up the past few weeks...

The boys and I spent some time in the OBX at my Aunt and Uncle's beach house, while Jake had to stay home and work one of the biggest events his company does every year. I found round trip tickets for $80, and he insisted I go. Before you feel too bad for him, last weekend he got to go to the U2 concert while I stayed home with the boys.

We're even.

Last night we watched the fireworks with a few of our neighbors and had a blast! I was nervous that Liam would hate it since he's so terrified of thunder, but he did just fine. Before the show, the kids jumped in a bouncy house, went down the giant slide, got their faces painted and got a free balloon.

Miracle of miracles, Javen actually slept in till 8:30 this morning, and after lunch asked me if he could take a rest. Such a trooper. :)

In other news, today marks my 27th week of pregnancy: hello 3rd trimester!!

Only 13 weeks to go...
